Get an address's balance, nonce and kind
/v1/addresses/{id}Tells you what an address is and what it holds right now: its balance in the chain's own coin (ETH on Ethereum, MON on Monad, USDC on Arc), its nonce (how many transactions it has sent), and its kind, which is a plain wallet, a smart contract, a wallet delegated to a contract, or a built-in precompile. Use it for the header of an address page, for a balance display, or to find out whether an address is a contract. It does not list the address's transactions, and it does not return token balances.
What you can pass. {id} takes one of two forms. Hex digits may be lowercase, uppercase or EIP-55 mixed case (see "Chains and IDs" in the introduction):
| Form | Example | You get |
|---|---|---|
| One chain: a CAIP-10 account ID | eip155:1:0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045 | The address on that chain (data.kind is address). |
Every chain: evm: and the address | evm:0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045 | The address on every served chain at once (data.kind is address_overview). |
What comes back: for one chain, data is an address (kind address) with address, type, delegate, balance, nonce and block. For evm:, data.chains holds one entry per chain, keyed by chain ID, and each entry is the same address object, or null for a chain that did not answer within 400 ms. In that case meta.partial is true and meta.missing names the chain with a retry link to the one-chain form. An address that has never been used is not an error: it comes back with a balance of 0, a nonce of 0 and type eoa. Balance and nonce are read at the chain's latest block, named in data.block, so meta.finality is always confirmed. links.self holds the EIP-55 form of the address.
Path parameters
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
idRequired | string | The address to look up, in one of two forms. |
Response
The address on one chain (data.kind is address), or its overview across every chain (data.kind is address_overview), wrapped in the {data, meta, links} envelope.
"kind": "address"
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| address | string | The address, in EIP-55 form. |
| balance | object | The address's balance in the chain's own coin (ETH or MON) at |
| block | object | The latest block at the moment the balance, nonce and kind were read. All three describe the address as of this block, which is not necessarily final. |
| chain | string | The chain this answer is about. |
| delegate | string | null | The contract an |
| kind | string | Always |
| nonce | integer | For a wallet, how many transactions it has sent. For a contract, how many contracts it has created, which starts at 1. Measured at |
| type | string | What kind of account it is. |
"kind": "address_overview"
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| address | string | The address, in EIP-55 form. It is the same on every chain. |
| chains | object | The address on each chain, keyed by chain ID. A chain that did not answer in time is |
| kind | string | Always |
Cost
1 credit for one chain, 2 credits for every chain. Each chain has 400 ms to answer.
Errors
| Status | Code |
|---|---|
| 400 | invalid_id |
| 404 | unsupported_chain |
| 429 | rate_limitedcredits_exhausted |
| 500 | internal |
| 503 | upstream_unavailable |
| 504 | deadline_exceeded |
400 invalid_id if the ID is malformed, or a mixed-case address has a wrong checksum. 404 unsupported_chain if a CAIP-10 ID names a chain that is not served. 429 rate_limited or credits_exhausted. 503 upstream_unavailable or 504 deadline_exceeded if the chain data source is down or slow; retry. The evm: form does not fail when one chain is slow: it returns a partial answer instead.
